Dr. Kohut received his medical degree from Albany Medical College, New York, in 1992. He completed an internship at the University of Michigan, Department of Surgery in 1995, and his neurosurgical residency at the University of Vermont, Department of Surgery in 2002. His professional interests include trigeminal neuralgia, neuro-oncology and complex spine surgery.

His community activities include the Santa Cruz County Medical Society, Alpha Omega Alpha, American Association of the Advancement of Science, American Medical Association and the Albany Medical College Alumni Association. Dr. Kohut is a member and board director of the California Transplant Donor Network.

Dr. Kohut enjoys films, travel and history.
