Program Provides Care Tailored to Busy Executives
November 2007
Most executives and professionals have hectic schedules and responsibilities that can lead to higher stress levels and make it difficult to find time to attend to their health. PAMF's Executive Health Program makes it easy for busy professionals to meet all of their health needs in one place.
"Many executives have little time to maintain a healthy diet and exercise, and because of their busy schedules, they often put off physical exams and preventive screenings. At the same time, their stressful lifestyles may place them at high risk for conditions such as hypertension, diabetes and obesity," said Henry Thai, M.D., an internal medicine physician at PAMF's Palo Alto Clinic and medical director of the Executive Health Program, which has been helping companies in the Bay Area protect the health and well-being of their top executives for more than 40 years.
"We can provide these individuals with coordinated, comprehensive care tailored specifically to their schedules, lifestyles and individual risk factors," said Dr. Thai.
The Executive Health Program provides individuals with a thorough and coordinated physical examination and nutritional evaluation, with emphasis placed on early detection and prevention of illness, and modification of potentially harmful risk factors.
Prior to the physical examination, clients are offered a secure and confidential online health risk assessment (HRA), which highlights risk factors for developing diseases or other medical conditions. It also identifies areas of the individual's health where improvements may be made. Executive Health physicians will use the completed HRA to make recommendations based on each executive's individual needs and risk factors.
After the exam, clients will receive copies of all tests performed and a letter detailing the results of the exam, as well as recommendations for optimizing their health despite time and job constraints. Patients may return for a subsequent visit to review the results with his or her Executive Health physician, or the summary letter may be sent to the executive's primary care physician upon request.
Beyond physical examinations, the Executive Health Program offers support services to help clients optimize their health, including nutrition counseling by a registered dietitian.
"Clients may receive individualized recommendations on how to lead healthier lives, from diet and exercise to guidelines on how to eat when dining out or traveling for business," said Dr. Thai.
In addition, each client is automatically enrolled in PAMF's e-health service, PAMFOnline. (See more information about PAMFOnline on page 1.)
One of the most convenient and distinguishing features of the Executive Health Program is its concierge service. As part of the program's bundled package of services, a coordinator will arrange all of the executive's care at PAMF, including scheduling appointments, and will escort the executive to his or her appointments. In between appointments, clients may relax and do work in PAMF's Executive Health lounge, which features a fax machine, phone, Internet access and other amenities.
