April 2008

When patients arrive at PAMF’s Palo Alto Clinic, they are greeted by friendly, dedicated volunteers eager to help them find their doctor’s office, or assist them with a wheelchair or calling for a cab. To continue putting a smile on patients’ faces, PAMF is accepting new volunteers to help make the experience of visiting the Palo Alto campus a warm and welcoming one.

Volunteers are stationed around the clinic to help answer visitors’ questions, guide patients to their appointments, and assist with various other tasks. In return for their time and commitment, they get a free lunch in the employee cafeteria for every four-hour shift worked, invitations to special volunteer-only events and the satisfaction of making a difference in the Palo Alto community.

Potential volunteers should be willing to serve at least one four-hour shift per week (8 a.m. to noon or noon to 4 p.m.), make a one-year commitment to volunteer and be willing to work in various areas around the clinic. In addition, volunteers must be over age 18 and physically capable of manual tasks like pushing wheelchairs. More information about the program is available at www.pamf.org/about/volunteer.html. To schedule an interview or for more information, contact Volunteer Supervisor Margo Ritter at 650-853-4703 or ritterm@pamf.org.
