Why is PAMF a Not-For-Profit, and What Does This Mean?
Unlike investor-owned health care systems, the Palo Alto Medical Foundation (PAMF) is a not-for-profit organization. This means that we reinvest any money left over after employees and bills have been paid into enhancing patient care, improving facilities and equipment, providing health education and medical research, and funding community benefit programs.
At PAMF, we believe this community-based, not-for-profit approach to health care is better for our patients and our communities because we offer many services communities need but that few organizations provide because the services are not profitable, such as medical research and care for the chronically ill, poor and uninsured.
As a not-for-profit organization that is committed to giving back to the local communities it serves, PAMF relies upon the generosity of grateful patients and community members who choose to make philanthropic gifts to PAMF. The compassionate vision of our donors allows us to provide the highest quality care to our patients and help those who are less fortunate in our communities.
