PAMF Expands To Meet the Growing Needs of Southern San Mateo County

Redwood City Center Opens at 805 Veterans Boulevard

The Palo Alto Medical Foundation (PAMF) will open a new office in Redwood City on Monday, August 1. The Redwood City Center, PAMF’s newest health center on the Peninsula, will provide primary care to patients, as well as laboratory services.

Located at 805 Veterans Boulevard, Suite 201, the center will offer one more location for patients to receive health care in southern San Mateo County. While PAMF currently operates the Redwood Shores Health Center located at 290 Redwood Shores Parkway, the increasing number of southern San Mateo County residents choosing PAMF as their health care provider spurred the need to open an additional location for county residents.

“We’ve enjoyed a 42 percent growth rate at our Redwood Shores location over the past year,” said Carl Baeuerlen, R.N., clinical manager of PAMF’s San Mateo County health centers. “We are at full capacity. We don’t have any room for additional physicians and we have run out of exam rooms. The new Redwood City Center will allow us to expand our staff and accommodate more patients in southern San Mateo County.”

The Redwood City Center will eventually accommodate 16 physicians – compared to the Redwood Shores Health Center, which was built to accommodate 12 physicians, but currently has 15 physicians caring for patients.

Initially, three Redwood Shores Health Center physicians –- internists Ronesh Sinha and William Black, and pediatrician Nathalie Lynch –- will move their practices to the Redwood City location. Dr. Black currently serves as the medical director for PAMF’s health centers in San Mateo County, and will serve as the department head for the Redwood City Center.

Family practice physicians Rachel Young and Kevin Chen, who currently practice in the South Bay, will join PAMF and complete the initial medical team. Baeuerlen estimates that the new health center will initially accommodate about 450 patient visits per week, plus laboratory visits. Additional physicians will be added as needed.

“We have a successful model in the Redwood Shores Health Center that provides outstanding medical care and serves southern San Mateo County patients well,” said Dr. Black. “Our patients enjoy the small, friendly atmosphere and consistently high-quality health care. We’ll provide the same patient-oriented service when they visit the new Redwood City Center.”

The new health center will be open Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. On Saturdays, patients can make appointments for urgent needs, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the Redwood Shores Health Center. In addition, PAMF offers patients access to a wide array of specialists and services including electronic health records (EHR) and PAMFOnline, a secure online resource which allows patients to view key components of their medical record, request prescription renewals and appointments, check test results and more.
