Parents & Teachers:
Resources on Teens & Sleep
Sleep is an important part of every child's growth and development. However, most teens and preteens get an insufficient amount of sleep. Teenagers need a minimum of nine hours of sleep per night but most only get about six to seven hours!
This page addresses sleep issues to help you and your child improve his or her sleep habits and prevent problems related to sleep.
- National Sleep Foundation: This web site for parents addresses all sleep issues including how sleep works, sleep disorders, drowsy driving, children & sleep, national sleep programs, and initiatives. It includes detailed information on many issues surrounding teens and sleep as well as resources such as tips, quizzes, current debates, and discussion forums. It provides links to Sleepforkids.org, a child-friendly Web site teaching the importance of sleep.
