Your doctor has recommended a decongestant. Decongestants are helpful adjuncts to many conditions such as common colds and allergies. They are also used to relieve symptoms such as ear and sinus pressure.

Sudafed (pseudoephedrine) is a commonly used decongestant available over the counter. Side effects are generally mild and may include nervousness, tremor and insomnia. Decongestants should be used regularly for several days to improve symptoms. Follow package instructions.

Nasal saline is a natural decongestant which can be used alone or with other decongestants. Use two sprays per nostril as needed.
