Medical Team
The Palo Alto Medical Foundation's Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Department (also known as Physiatry) helps patients with a wide range of neurological and musculoskeletal problems to improve their quality of life. The Physiatry team's goal is to help reduce pain and keep patients as active as possible. Our physiatrists treat patients with a wide range of problems including back and neck pain, tendinitis and pinched nerves as well as stroke, brain or spinal injuries.
Along with physical examinations and imaging studies, PAMF's physiatrists also use special diagnostic techniques, such as electromyography (EMG) that measures the electrical function of muscles and nerves, to diagnose conditions that cause pain, weakness and numbness.
PAMF's board certified physiatrists work closely with physicians and staff in other departments, such as neurologists, orthopedic surgeons, rheumatologist and physical therapists, to design individualized treatment plans for patients.
