    Art as a Hobby!

Preteens enjoy hobbies for a variety of reasons. Some people do hobbies in their free time just for fun, to help them relax, for exercise, to reduce stress, or get better at something they like.

My favorite hobby is drawing and writing poetry. I try to do a little bit of art every day because it makes me happier and reduces my stress level. Sometimes you'll be able to do your hobby in school. For example, I get to do lots of art in my school because we have art classes and even in academic subjects like history and English, we'll have artistic projects for homework.

When my school day does not involve art, I will usually take 5 to 10 minutes before I go to bed to write a poem or draw a picture. These expressions of my thoughts are key to releasing unwanted or powerful moments of my day. Putting my feelings on paper can really help me understand a feeling or my point of view or someone else's.

I think it's important to have a hobby that you love and can spend a little time each day on — something just for you!
