    DIY Purses

As you get older, you might want to start carrying a purse. Whether you choose to buy one, borrow one, or make one yourself, purses are a good way to hold small personal belongings.

DIY (Do-It-Yourself) purses can be great. Below are a few ways people make their own purses.

    Knit
A fun way to make your own purse is to knit one. It is easy to find a pattern online, in a book or from a friend. Learn more about knitting.

    Duct Tape
Lots of kids are starting to make wallets and purses out of solid duct tape. Buy a roll and experiment. There are lots of colors of duct tape to decorate with as well.

    Fabric Scraps
If you have some scraps of fabric lying around, use them to make a purse. Don't worry about matching; just sew pieces together until it's the right size to be a purse. It might be a good idea to line the inside with a strong, solid piece of fabric.

    Personalize
If you have an old purse that you won't use anymore, give it a makeover! Add new ribbons and buttons, or take some scissors and make it completely new. Just make sure no one in your family wants to keep it!
