Mad Magazine contains mature humor for older preteens or teenagers. Younger kids might not like or understand the jokes. I think the magazine is entertaining and fun to read (it’s relaxing) and it doesn’t have as many ads as other magazines do.

It has lots of parodies (imitations), and one of my favorite parts of the magazine is the back page fold-out cartoon. Mad Magazine often makes fun of itself; for example, the cover of one of its “collectable” editions says, "Buy Both Editions (we need the money)." The magazine runs "Spy vs. Spy" cartoons that are comical, and the way it plays on words is amusing as well.

Parents might want to look at this magazine first to make sure their kids will enjoy it, but overall Mad is a relaxing read that is reasonably appropriate for preteens and teens.
