    Iron Man

Comic book readers from days gone by will love this big screen adaptation of Marvel's legendary superhero "Iron Man." Robert Downey Jr. stars as Tony Stark, a billionaire industrialist and genius inventor who is kidnapped and forced to build a devastating weapon -- or so his captors believe. Instead, this spoiled brat turned responsible adult builds a suit of armor and escapes captivity. When he uncovers a plot by an evil mastermind (Shaun Toub) that could kill millions, he vows to protect the world. The film also stars Gwyneth Paltrow, Jeff Bridges and Terrence Howard.

Iron Man was an exciting action movie that held my attention to the end. It kept you at the edge of your seat with plot twists, and left you wanting more. Throughout the movie there were subtle as well as obvious jokes that kept the mood bright despite some of the heavier topics.

Iron Man was amazing, with plot twists, and plenty of action to keep you interested, with just a slight sprinkling of romance to have the romantics in the audience wondering. The bad guy, when he is revealed, is quite a shock. Once you know, you find yourself wondering how you could have missed it. Lots of fun, plenty of jokes, action, and a robot with a fire extinguisher make Iron Man a wonderful movie. And let's not forget that they play the song "Iron Man" by Black Sabbath during the credits.

What can I say? I was willing to see the movie because as a baby boomer mom, I knew I would love the music, including "Iron Man" by Black Sabbath. I was pleasantly surprised that I actually loved the whole movie, especially the role that Ms. Paltrow plays, and the completely unrealistic turnaround experienced by Tony Stark. It was exciting, had some great special effects, and I am still humming:

    Has he lost his mind?
Can he see or is he blind?
    Can he walk at all,
Or if he moves will he fall?

    Is he alive or dead?
Has he thoughts within his head?
    …
    He was turned to steel
    In the great magnetic field
    Where he traveled time
    For the future of mankind

    Nobody wants him
    …
    Iron man lives again
