Ingredients

1 cup butter
1 cup white sugar
1 cup powdered sugar
1 cup salad oil (such as vegetable oil)
2 teaspoons vanilla
2 beaten eggs
5 cups sifted flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon cream of tartar
1/2 teaspoon salt

Directions

Cream together butter and sugar. Mix in the rest of ingredients well. Roll into balls about the size of walnuts. Place two inches apart on cookie sheet. Press with the bottom of a glass dipped in sugar. Sprinkle sugar generously on top. Sugar crystals (decorations) of any kind can be used. Bake at 350 for about 10 minutes, watching carefully to make sure the cookies don't burn. This recipe makes over 100 cookies.
