Prostate cancer itself usually does not cause any specific symptoms unless it has spread outside the prostate. If prostate cancer has spread to the bones, patients may experience continuous pain in the back, hip or pelvis. Symptoms of an enlarged prostate, which may be cancerous or benign, may include:

  • Painful or burning urination
  • The need to urinate frequently
  • Difficulty urinating
  • Inability to urinate
  • Weak or interrupted flow of urine
  • Painful ejaculation
