Professional interests: |
An internist is a non-surgical doctor who treats adult patients. As an internist, I am well-suited to manage chronic conditions like high blood pressure, high cholesterol, coronary artery disease and adult onset diabetes. While I provide primary care for adult patients of all ages, I am also very comfortable with complex medical patients and elderly patients. I have extensive experience with men's health issues, but I am also interested in women's health. I enjoy all aspects of medicine; however, I am particularly interested in solving diagnostic challenges, diseases of the liver, infectious disease, basic hematology and most importantly, providing good preventative care to my patients. |

Philosophy of care:
|
| I come from a medical family. My great-grandfather was a horse and buggy doctor in the late 19th Century in the Michigan county where I grew up. I am proud to say that my grandmother graduated from medical school in 1901, an almost unheard of feat in those days. My father was also a doctor, so I've grown up with a sense of what it means to be a doctor. As a primary care doctor, I place great importance on creating solid doctor-patient relationships. I've seen firsthand how this improves both patient care and doctor satisfaction. I strive to provide respectful and non-judgmental care to all my patients and to be mindful of their confidentiality and the privilege I have in learning what are sometimes very personal details about someone's life in order to help them. I grew up with a strong tradition of patient advocacy and will stand up for my patients, if needed. I strongly believe in the proven benefits of primary care, but also believe in a teamwork approach to specialty care. I am detail-oriented and thorough in my approach to coordinating patient care. Most importantly, I do what I can to help my patients lead healthier and, ideally, happier and longer lives. |
