    Chronic Pain Therapy Group

    The therapy group will offer participants an opportunity to learn coping skills for chronic illness and pain through group problem solving as well as develop skills for:

    • stress reduction and relaxation
    • mindfulness
    • cognitive behavioral awareness
    • anger management
    The group will foster an atmosphere of emotional support and interaction to combat feelings of isolation and misunderstanding often associated with chronic pain.

    When: Thursdays at 1:30 p.m.

    Fee: $47 per meeting

    Insurance benefit may apply, check with your insurance carrier prior to starting group. Commitment to a three-month session is recommended. Members may be added after the initial start-up date to maintain group size.

    Facilitator: Shellie Hatfield, LCSW, has worked extensively in Bay Area hospitals with cancer patients and patients with other chronic medical disorders. She utilizes hypnosis in helping patients deal with pain and assists patients through difficult medical procedures and chronic conditions. She has facilitated groups for 20 years and understands the power of groups to facilitate coping and healing.
