The Santa Cruz Physical Therapy Department focuses on developing individualized programs to help patients recover from various problems.
We help patients rehabilitate from many conditions including recovery from surgery, certain pain and overuse syndromes, sports injuries, as well as problems related to mobility and activities of daily living.
Our therapists work with patients in an individualized, "hands on" approach. When a therapist sees a patient for the first time, he or she examines that individual and develops a plan of care that promotes the ability to move, reduces pain, restores function, and prevents disability. The physical therapist and the patient then work side-by-side to make sure that the goals of the treatment plan are met.
Our physical therapy department communicates closely with the patient's referring physician to ensure a "team approach" and continuity of care with the entire medical team.
Therapeutic exercise and functional training are the hallmark of our therapy programs. Depending on the particular needs of a patient, therapists may utilize other specific techniques such as electrical stimulation, ultrasound, ice or manual therapy.
