Who is affected by TM disorders

Temporomandibular (TM) disorders are most common in younger adults (ages 20 to 40) and in women.1

About 3 out of 10 adults have some symptoms of a TM disorder. Among adults who are tested, 4 out of 10 show some kind of TM disorder. But less than 1 out of 10 adults has jaw problems or pain that is so severe that they need treatment.2
