Lisa Diamond, M.D., MPH
Lisa Diamond, M.D., MPH, has just joined us as a research fellow at Palo Alto Medical Foundation (PAMF)'s Research Institute, Department of Health Policy Research. Before joining PAMF, Lisa completed a two-year fellowship in the Robert Wood Johnson Clinical Scholars Program at Yale University.
Lisa has an undergraduate degree in policy studies from Syracuse University and a master's degree in public health (MPH) from the Johns Hopkins School of Public Health. After her time in Baltimore, she attended the George Washington School of Medicine in Washington, DC, followed by her internship and residency in internal medicine at New York Presbyterian/Columbia University Medical Center in New York.
Research Interests
- Physician-patient communication, particularly in how language barriers affect quality of care and outcomes for patients with limited English proficiency.
- Qualitative study on underuse of interpreters by resident physicians.
- National survey to assess hospital compliance with federal regulations of language services.
- Impact of Race/Ethnicity/Language concordance between physicians and patients on quality of care.
