Lan Xiao, Ph.D., is a research analyst in the Department of Health Services Research at Palo Alto Medical Foundation’s Research Institute. She received a doctorate in statistical genomics from Michigan State University and a master’s degree in statistics from the University of Toronto. Before working in her current position, she worked as a biostatistician/database analyst at the Mid-America Heart Institute from 2006 to 2008 and as a statistical consultant at Michigan State University from 2003 to 2006.She has developed extensive knowledge and experience to work with investigators on nationwide multicenter projects. She has co-authored over 20 original papers/abstracts that have been published in various reputable journals. The statistical programming languages she has used in the management and analysis of health-related data include SAS, S-Plus, SPSS, MPLUS and R. She also used databases such as DB2 and ACCESS and programmed PERL for searching sequences from websites.
