The Department of Health and Policy Research focuses on research to improve the quality and reduce the cost of health care, including innovative ways to prevent and assist patients in managing chronic illnesses (such as heart disease, diabetes and depression) using information technology to promote evidence-based care, strategies for involving the community in health improvement, and evaluating novel payment strategies for physicians and care providers that foster disease prevention and care coordination.
