Prevention and Health Maintenance
Each year, millions of people die preventable deaths by following behaviors that are detrimental to their health and exposing themselves to risk. Preventive healthcare (or preventive medicine) looks at the factors that keep people from following measures that could prevent problems and ways to encourage better health maintenance. These factors can include a person's environment, genetic predisposition, disease agents and lifestyle choices that put individuals at greater risk for disease.
