John "Jack" Hafstad
John "Jack" Hafstad has been a resident of San Carlos since 1958. He graduated from the College of San Mateo and later the University of San Francisco. He is a World War II veteran and was a project engineer for the United States Air Force.
He retired from Pacific Telephone in 1980 as a senior engineer for building construction and long-range planning. He later obtained his California general contractor's license and practiced residential construction.
In 1984, he began volunteering at the San Carlos Senior Citizens Center. He presently serves on the Senior Center's advisory board. Previously, he served six years on the San Carlos Planning Commission.
His hobbies include woodworking and painting in oils and acrylics. He is a member of Sons in Retirement, Inc. and serves as its historian.
