Emil Torrez

Emil Torrez and his wife, Betty, have lived in San Carlos' Laureola neighborhood since 1964. In 1990, he retired from the Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office, where he worked since 1970.

Emil has been a member of Lions International for nearly 40 years and is a past president of the San Carlos Lions Club. He also serves on the board of the Friends of the San Carlos Senior Center and is a past president for the group.

Previously, he was past president and served on the board of the San Carlos Historic Museum.

Emil was born in Longmont, Colorado and worked for the Union Pacific Railroad prior to moving to California. He was also in the Navy and served on the USS Boxer from 1950 to 1952.

He and his wife have two sons and enjoy traveling.
