The Palo Alto Medical Foundation for Health Care, Education and Research was founded in 1930 as the Palo Alto Medical Clinic. The Clinic was a pioneer in multispecialty group practice, the concept of offering a full range of services to meet the health care needs of local residents.

Today, we have outpatient clinics in Fremont, Los Altos, Palo Alto, Portola Valley and Redwood Shores, with more than 270 physicians in 40 specialties serving patients from Santa Clara, San Mateo and Alameda counties. Specialties include allergy, family practice, general surgery, internal medicine, obstetrics and gynecology, nutritional counseling, oncology, ophthalmology, pediatrics, psychiatry and behavioral health, radiology, surgery, sports medicine, urgent care and more.

PAMF also includes Camino Medical Group in the South Bay and the Santa Cruz Medical Foundation. In total, we care for more than 500,000 patients, a number that continues to grow as more people seek us out for medical care.

The Foundation is a leader in the rapidly evolving health care industry, with programs such as same-day appointment scheduling and technologies such as an electronic health record and world-class imaging equipment. Our Research Institute conducts basic research in the areas of cardiovascular biology, immunology and infectious diseases, and health services research, as well as clinical trials of new treatment options. The Education Division provides community health education through health-promotion classes and outreach activities.

PAMF is a not-for-profit organization governed by a community-based Board of Trustees. We are affiliated with Sutter Health, a not-for-profit network of hospitals and medical groups throughout Northern California that share resources and expertise to advance health care quality.
