PAMF Names Co-Chairs of Community Advisory Committee -- March 2005

PAMF announced in February that longtime San Carlos residents Margery Ranch and Randy Royce will serve as co-chairs of the Community Advisory Committee formed to provide community input on PAMF's proposed San Carlos Center.

The volunteer committee is comprised of 20 community members with diverse backgrounds who are interested in the future medical center's role in providing healthy choices to residents of San Carlos. Committee members also include Linda Drew, former PTA coordinating council president and San Carlos Citizen of the Year; John Buchanan, former mayor of San Carlos; Connie Barton Barba, past general chair of the Chickens' Ball (a fundraising event for San Carlos schools) and former San Carlos Citizen of the Year; and other business and community leaders.

The committee co-chairs were selected to organize and lead the group's efforts to bring the proposed medical center to San Carlos. Margery Ranch is a 32-year San Carlos resident, a former executive director of the San Carlos Chamber of Commerce, former commissioner on the City's Economic Development Advisory Commission and past president of the San Carlos School Board. She was also a member of the board of directors of the National Federation of Parents for Drug Free Youth, co-founder of Californians for Drug Free Youth, and recipient of the National Parent Resource Institute for Drug Education's Volunteer of the Year award.

Randy Royce, former financial operations manager at Hewlett Packard and Agilent Technologies, is a 26-year San Carlos resident. Considered the city's historian, Royce was chairperson of San Carlos's 75th Anniversary celebration and published "San Carlos Stories," a book chronicling the City's history. He also volunteers for a number of community programs, including the Sister Cities Association and summer concert series and was recently named to the City's Economic Development Advisory Commission.

Other committee members include: Barbara Bishop, M.D.; Kevin Clay; Ron Collins; Warren DeLano, Ph.D.; Pam Gallant, R.N.; Jack Hafstad; Todd Hancock; Jim Inglis; Wayne Kennedy; Fred Koehler; Anna Lippi; Phil Maresca; Tessa Martino; Bernadette Mellott; and Mike Tiernan.

    In Their Own Words

"We're fortunate PAMF chose San Carlos as the site for its new medical center. San Carlos has always prided itself on being 'The City of Good Living.' Bringing a full-service medical clinic and hospital to San Carlos absolutely enhances the balance of city services."

    - Margery Ranch, co-chair, Community Advisory Committee for the PAMF San Carlos Center

"I'm honored to be a part of this advisory committee as we look at the important issues associated with this project, such as access to quality health care, that will impact current and future generations. We're fortunate to have a choice for our medical needs and I believe that the PAMF San Carlos Center's wide range of services, from emergency care, urgent care and surgical services to medical offices and laboratory services, will satisfy our growing demand for medical care. Beyond medical care, I have also experienced first-hand PAMF's contributions to our local schools, summer concert series and other events. They're a welcome addition to our community."
