PAMF San Carlos Center Update -- One Year After City Council Approval
Dear PAMF San Carlos Center Supporters:
Today marks the one-year anniversary of the San Carlos City Council's unanimous approval of the Palo Alto Medical Foundation's (PAMF's) San Carlos Center. PAMF is excited about bringing a state-of-the-art medical center to San Carlos that will include primary and specialty physician services; an urgent care center; laboratory, X-ray and other testing services; a center of excellence in cardiovascular care; and a full-service, 97-bed hospital with a 24-hour, seven-days-a-week emergency room - all in one location and open to the entire community.
Many of you were part of the more than 5,500 San Carlos residents and business owners who publicly endorsed our project. We deeply appreciate your support and wanted to take this opportunity to update you on the project and our construction timeline.
1.) The environmental cleanup of the site is in its final stages. Once the cleanup is complete, the appropriate state and regional agencies must approve the condition of the site before any construction takes place.
2.) If you passed by the future site of our medical campus at 301 Industrial Road, you likely noticed that the old buildings on the site have been demolished. The piles of crushed concrete dotting the site will be recycled and used as the base for the roads and buildings on our new campus.
3.) On October 20, PAMF will seek approval of the architectural plans for the project from the San Carlos Planning Commission. If approved, PAMF will seek building permits from the city for the site, the entrance area, the cafeteria and parking garage, and the medical office building/clinic. Simultaneously, PAMF will seek building permits from the Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development (OSHPD) for the hospital and the central utility plant. Construction is scheduled to begin in 2009 and be completed in 2013.
Thank you again for your strong support of our project. We look forward to breaking ground in 2009 and being a part of the community for years to come.
