Updates on the environmental cleanup of the site 11-19-2007 |
Environmental Cleanup 11-19-07 The next phase of work will be soon begin at the 301 Industrial Road site where the Palo Alto Medical Foundation (PAMF) recently received unanimous approval from the San Carlos City Council and Planning Commission to build a state-of-the-art medical center. The current property owner, 301 Industrial LLC, will conduct an environmental cleanup of the site to make it suitable for a medical center and hospital. This work is expected to begin within the next couple of weeks and be completed in approximately 12 months. The detailed environmental cleanup plan for the site has already been through public review and approved by the San Francisco Bay Area Regional Water Quality Control Board (RWQCB), the agency responsible for overseeing the cleanup. A grading and dirt hauling permit was also recently approved and issued by the San Carlos Planning Commission. During the cleanup project, the contractor will be allowed to work only during the hours and days permitted by the San Carlos Municipal Code. The regular work schedule will be Monday-Friday between the hours of 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Grading activities will be limited to the hours of 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. No work is anticipated on Saturdays, and work will be prohibited at night and on Sundays. As with the earlier demolition project at the site, there will be some noise and truck traffic traveling on Industrial Road to and from Highway 101, but there will be no lane closures, road closures or detours. Trucks will not drive through residential areas and all construction vehicles will park within the fence on the site, not on Industrial Road or on adjacent streets. If you would like any additional information on PAMF's San Carlos project or the environmental cleanup activities, please contact the PAMF Public Affairs Department at (650) 853-2965, send an e-mail to publicaffairs@pamf.org, or visit www.pamf.org/sancarlos. |
