FAQ's
We have provided a list of frequently asked questions regarding our services and policies. Please let us know if you would like specific topics addressed here; the list will be updated frequently.
New Articles
We will continue to provide you with the most recent data on T. gondii infection, toxoplasmosis and laboratory testing. For example, we have recently published an article of a case-control study of adults recently infected with T. gondii (Clin Infect Dis. 2009 Sep 15;49(6):878-84). This study was performed in collaboration with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The following risk factors were associated with the acute T. gondii infection: eating raw ground beef, eating rare lamb, eating locally produced cured, dried, or smoked meat, working with meat, drinking unpasteurized goat’s milk, having 3 or more kittens, and eating raw oysters, clams or mussels. Knowledge of these risk factors will help to target prevention efforts. Furthermore, we are proud to mention that the above article, Risk Factors for Toxoplasma gondii infection in the United States, was nominated for the 2010 Charles C. Shepard Science Award by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry (ATSDR), and was awarded the Nakano Citation by the National Center for Emerging and Zoonotic Infections Diseases.
Fee schedule 2011
In order to continue to provide our clients with the high level of diagnostic testing and individualized consultation services that they have come to expect, we will implement a small but necessary increase in our fees. However, we remain a not for profit institution.
