Healthy Eating Education
and Support Group for Teens
Do you have rigid rules about food, feel guilty about eating, restrict your eating, purge or exercise too much?
If so, the Palo Alto Medical Foundation (PAMF) offers a healthy eating education and nutrition group that might be right for you!
What is this group?
This is a weekly group where teens can receive support from their peers as well as from professionals. The group consists of six to eight teens and is lead by a therapist and a dietitian who treat the entire person – body, mind and emotions.
How long is the group?
We ask that you commit to attending the group for a minimum of eight weeks. After that, you are welcome to continue attending the group as long as you like.
Can I see a dietitian or therapist privately, too?
Individual counseling and nutrition education is optional. To coordinate your care, we encourage you to pick a PAMF dietitian or therapist for those private sessions.
How much does the group cost?
Individual fees will depend on your insurance plan and whether you also need nutritional counseling or a medical evaluation. We can help you determine what services your insurance plan covers during the program pre-assessment process.
- Group fees are $46 per session, with a minimum of eight sessions.
- The pre-group assessment is $186, which may be covered by insurance.
- A medical evaluation also may be necessary and has varying costs.
To schedule an appointment, call 650-853-2283. The intake coordinator will interview you by phone and then set up an appointment with you and your parent(s) or guardian(s). During the appointment you will complete a medical history and be referred to a nutritionist, if necessary.
