    Protein

One of three types of nutrients used as energy by the body (the other two are carbohydrate and fat). They are large, molecules made up of chains of amino acids, specifically ordered by DNA that can form endless varieties of unique proteins. Proteins are essential components of muscles, skin, bone, and the body. They make enzymes, hormones and antibodies. Proteins have 4 calories of energy per gram.
