South Asian Women's Health
A woman’s health affects many aspects of her life. Like many cultures, ethnicity, cultural background, and gender roles coincide to inform the ways that South Asian women think about their bodies and their health. PAMF’s South Asian Wellness Task Force, which created the PRANA (Prevention and Awareness for South Asians) Wellness Program and contributes to this Web site, aspires to address these social determinants of health, in order to raise awareness about specific health problems South Asian women are prone to face.
This section of the Web site provides information about South Asian women’s health issues and explores concrete ways that women can take ownership over their bodies and health care decisions. In addition to reviewing this information, individuals should see their personal physicians for regular exams and to learn more about maintaining good health.
