Post-Surgery for Young Patients at the Surgecenter

When surgery is finished, your child's doctor will come out to speak with you. Your child will go to the recovery room until he/she awakens from anesthesia. Your child will recover under the care of specially trained nurses. The anesthesiologist will continue to monitor your child's condition.

In order to ensure the best possible care for your child and all other patients, parents are asked to wait in the waiting area during this time. Be assured, however, that as soon as your child is awake, you will be welcome to remain with him/her until discharge. The nurses will answer any questions and give you verbal and written instructions for your child's post-surgical care at home. In the event of any difficulty after you return home, immediately call your surgeon, the Surgecenter (during regular business hours) or 911 for emergencies.
