Burlingame Hepatopancreaticobiliary Surgery
Surgeons at the Palo Alto Medical Foundation (PAMF) Burlingame Center offer expertise in the treatment of benign and malignant diseases of the liver, pancreas and biliary system. They provide a collaborative, interdisciplinary approach to the diagnosis and treatment of these conditions.
The surgeons work closely with our gastroenterologists to tailor the work-up and treatment plan for each patient. For patients with cancer, they collaborate with our team of specialists, including surgical oncologists, medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, radiologists and pathologists, to provide comprehensive care. The Clinic also offers a Multidisciplinary Gastrointestinal Tumor Board, and encourages patient participation in clinical trials.
Clinic surgeons perform extensive open surgeries such as pancreaticoduodenectomy, or the removal of all or part of the pancreas along with the duodenum, and major hepatectomy, surgical excision of all or part of the liver with the goal of achieving a cure.
We also offer palliative procedures for patients with metastatic disease. Whenever possible, we perform laparoscopic (minimally invasive) surgery to minimize incisions and reduce pain.
