Who's in a Family? presents a variety of types of families, both human and animal. From the elephants who segregate into groups of males and groups of females, to the young boy who has two households of parents after a divorce, this book helps children understand that a family is built on love. It is this affection among family members, no matter what their gender, race, shape, or size, that makes a family complete. The book describes families with no children, grandparents raising children, multi-ethnic families, and single parents. After reading this book, children will better understand the different types of families that make the world a unique place, and how their family is also unique. Children could easily read this book and comprehend it on their own, but I suggest reading this book as a family and discussing what makes your family unique. The last page of the book includes space for a child to draw their family and understand how the love in a family creates a full circle, no matter who is in the family.
