    Prevention

    The best way to prevent fevers is to reduce your child's exposure to infectious diseases. Reference Hand-washing is the single most important prevention measure for people of all ages.

    Childhood immunizations can reduce the risk for fever-related illnesses, such as Reference Haemophilus influenzae type b Opens New Window (Hib) infection. Although no vaccine is 100% effective, most routine childhood immunizations are effective for 85% to 95% of the children who receive them.
