    How It Works

    Hydroxyurea is used to lower the white blood cell count for people who have a disease like Reference leukemia Opens New Window where the body makes too many white blood cells. It may be used to treat people who haven't been helped by other treatments such as Reference tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs).

    It is used to treat Reference chronic myelogenous leukemia (CML) Opens New Window and, rarely, Reference chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) Opens New Window or Reference acute myelogenous leukemia (AML) Opens New Window. It is sometimes used to treat Reference sickle cell disease Opens New Window.
