In a perfect world, a young person would never be harmed physically, sexually or emotionally. Unfortunately, many youth are abused by people who should protect them.

If something you know is not right has happened to you, tell someone. Tell your parents, a minister, a medical professional, a counselor, a teacher, or another adult that you trust. Every person has the right to be protected from abuse.

It does not matter what the abuser has said to you. People will believe you, they can help protect you, and he or she will not be able to carry out threats made to keep you quiet. Do not keep a secret that is hurting you.
