Vasectomy Consultations

Palo Alto Medical Foundation's Urology Department offers vasectomy consultations in the form of Shared Medical Appointments (SMAs).

An SMA is a face to face health care appointment in a group setting which enables those considering a vasectomy to learn from each other and gain a greater understanding of the procedure. During the SMA, patients benefit from listening to each other's questions while experiencing the support of a group environment.

Also, after check-in, a brief private exam is done by the doctor to decide if the patient is a good candidate to have a vasectomy in the office.

It is strongly suggested that the patient's spouse or significant other attend the appointment, but please do not bring children to the group.
