Wellness Assessment for Youth to Get Organized! (WAY2GO!)

PAMF’s WAY2GO! program uses teenagers’ favorite communications method – a cell phone – to motivate them to develop good habits that will keep them healthy their whole life long.

    How It Works

With the WAY2GO! program teenagers start by taking a confidential, online wellness assessment that asks questions about their general health and development, physical activity, nutrition, substance use, puberty, sexuality, relationships and experience with trauma. The answers trigger an immediate, individually tailored report with links to medically accurate health and wellness resources from PAMF’s teen website.

The program then links teens to RallyOn's free health coaching service that makes it fun to work on the daily health goals highlighted in their report (such as remembering medication, packing a lunch, limiting screen time and getting enough exercise, sleep or fruits and vegetables)

With a unique keyword PAMF can provide annual reports with aggregated data comparing specific site results to Youth Risk Behavior Surveillance System (YRBSS) or state-level health data, as available. This is available at no cost to schools and other groups as part of PAMF’s ongoing commitment to community health education.

PAMF is currently developing two further versions of the WAY2GO! program – one for preteens and another for college students.

    Sponsor

The early development of WAY2GO! was supported by a grant from The Health Trust, a local nonprofit organization whose mission is to advance health and wellness in Silicon Valley.

    Tried and Tested by Teenagers

In 2010 the WAY2GO! was pilot tested by more than 250 teenagers from high schools in Santa Clara County, California, whose feedback was extremely positive. Schools, community groups and medical practices can use the WAY2GO! program as an integral part of their own wellness programs.
