Registered Dietitian
Darcie Ellyne, M.S., R.D., CDE, B.C - ADM, received her master of science in nutrition in 1989 from San Jose State University, and completed her registered dietitian training in 1990 at San Francisco General Hospital. She is a certified diabetes educator and is board certified in advanced diabetes management.
Prior to joining the Palo Alto Medical Foundation (PAMF) in 2001, Ellyne gained experience with nutrition counseling as a home care dietitian with Pathways Home Care. She was also a diabetes nutrition specialist with Northern California Diabetes Institute at Sequoia Hospital, a nutrition program coordinator and diabetes educator for Endocrine Metabolic Medical Center, and a clinical dietitian for Mills-Peninsula Hospitals.
Ellyne is a member of the American Association of Diabetes Educators and the American and California Dietetic Associations.
She has extensive experience in lifestyle management of type 1, type 2 and gestational diabetes. Other specialty areas include nutrition for bariatric surgery, eating disorders, women’s health, cardiovascular nutrition and geriatric nutrition. She is also interested in health and nutrition supplements.
Ellyne is married and has a daughter. She is passionate about food and dining. She has studied cooking in France and taught nutrition at the California Culinary Academy. She enjoys travel, outdoor adventure, performance art and yoga.
