Haroon Anwar, M.D.
Surgeon
Haroon Anwar, M.D., joined the Palo Alto Medical Foundation (PAMF) in 2003 as a general and laparoscopic surgeon. He received his M.D. degree in 1995 from Thomas Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia after graduating with a B.S. in biochemistry from the University of California at Los Angeles.
Dr. Anwar completed an internship and residency in general surgery at the University of California at San Francisco (UCSF) Medical Center. He then served as chief resident of general surgery and completed a fellowship in laparoscopic and gastrointestinal surgery under Lawrence W. Way, M.D., at the medical center. Prior to PAMF, Dr. Anwar was a clinical instructor for the Department of Surgery UCSF, and a lecturer and instructor for the UCSF Videoscopic Surgery Center.
He is a member of the American College of Surgeons (ACS), American Hernia Society, Society of American Gastrointestinal Surgeons, Society for Surgeons of the Alimentary Tract, Northern Chapter ACS and Naffzinger Surgical Society. He currently serves on the volunteer clinical faculty for Stanford University and is on the board of directors for Operation Access in San Francisco.
